How Erectile Dysfunction Affects a Man
For many men, erections are simply part of who they are. They’re part of their masculinity, and any problems associated with an erection can lead to problems with their self-worth. In fact, many men lose confidence when they can’t please their partner or get and maintain an erection. Facing ED often means facing effects not just in the bedroom, but outside of the bedroom as well.
Connecting with the right ED treatment may help to boost a man’s self-esteem, though. In fact, a study in May of 2013 in the Journal of Sexual Medicine suggested that treatment that meant increased erection hardness meant serious gains in both self-esteem and confidence of the men involved with the study.
The study used 478 different participants who self-reported using the Self-Esteem and Relationship questionnaire. They completed the questions before they started on the medication and again three months after they’d finished a round of medication. Scoring questions from zero to 100, with 100 indicating the best, most men reported their self-esteem increased by at least 30 points during the course of the study. Partner support also proved useful during the course of this study.
